I know that there are many of you out there who grew up reading Laura Ingalls Wilder’s “Little House” series. I’m also quite certain that you felt the way that I did when I finished the book collection: “Why can’t there be more!?”
Well, now, there is.
Not from Wilder, of course, but from another wonderful children’s author, Heather Williams.
Farmer Boy Goes West chronicles the rugged adventures of Almanzo Wilder. Almanzo, first introduced in Wilder’s Farmer Boy, went on to win the heart of Laura Ingalls and appeared in the beloved tales The Long Winter, Little Town on the Prairie, These Happy Golden Years and The First Four Years.
This brand new adventure is all about a young Almanzo. He seeks out for big adventure like many young boys and families during his time, by going out west.
You’ll “ride along” with Almanzo as he adopts a canine companion, experiences the simple Christmas joys of yesteryear, and fitting into a new school. A true-to-life, easy-to-digest chapter book that kids will enjoy — even (and probably especially) the boys!
(This is the book our 7-year-old is reading aloud to us right now!)
