The Okee Dokee Brothers – Review + Giveaway

The “dog days of summer” have arrived. During these last few warm days of the season, your family may feel the need for a pick-me-up. The best boost is music — and The Okee Dokee Brothers’ Take It Outside album is the best boost around!

Take It Outside celebrates the great outdoors — including camping, one of The Okee Dokee Brothers’ favorite past-times. There are bluegrass-tinged sounds all through this album, music that gets your toes tapping and fingers snapping. “Bluegrass for Breakfast,” the debut tune, is sure to get your family smiling. The rest of the songs vary from silly to serious. “Auctioneer” hilariously celebrates the fast-talking profession….while the album’s wrap-up tune “Sweet Dreams” lulls your child to sleep in a homespun way.

Who are The Okee Dokee Brothers? They’re Joe Mailander and Justin Lansing, a well-known Twin Cities duo who won national attention for their first CD, Kids with Beards, in 2008.

Recently said by Mailander: “We put a lot of heart and soul into this recording and all of our live performances. From start to finish, we want to encourage kids to get outside and have fun with their families.” Lansing added, “We believe that by going outside and enjoying nature, we are able to gain a greater understanding of the world around us. This can only lead to respect for our neighbors, cultures and earth.”

The Okee Dokee Brothers are going to be performing at Austin Kiddie Limits this October! For a complete schedule of family concerts and other live performances, visit www.okeedokee.org.

You can purchase The Okee Dokee Brothers’ Take It Outside from their website or via CDBaby or $14.99.
