A fun way to work on listening skills!

Every mom (and teacher) knows this is true: Almost every child of preschool/early elementary age could use some practice learning how to listen. Talking comes effortlessly for most….but listening is a learned skill.

Chronicle Books released a Kindermusik game that blends fun sound effects and the beloved game of bingo: Sound Bingo!

Intended for ages 4 and up, Sound Bingo comes with six dual-sided game boards, 100 bingo pieces/markers, and a CD with numerous sound effects.

Simply put the CD into a CD player, select “shuffle” to allow random playback, and get ready to play. Your kids will get quiet and still, intently listening for each new sound, scanning their game cards to see if they have a match. As with all bingo games, the first player to fill his/her card yells “Bingo!” and wins the game!

Our kids love the sound effects. They are truly well-done and 100% realistic. Giggles erupted, too, when they realized that one of the sounds was bagpipes — the instrument that their Grandad plays!

You can find Sound Bingo in stores (and online) for $16.99. This would be a terrific classroom resource for teachers, a unique addition to the family game closet, or a terrific add-in for car travel this summer!

Win it! Courtesy of Chronicle Books, I have an extra Sound Bingo game to give away!

I love the chronicle books Playdate cooking book. But I came to tell you that if you like Soundbingo, there’s an iPhone/ipad version that is free! Or for .99 you can get a bunch more games and the ability to customize them or even design your own games with sounds and photos specifically picked for your kids, or your interests, or even — like I may have done, 80s music trivia to stumpbyour coworkers!
