It’s time for a pop quiz.

Time to see how well your children really know their favorite and best-loved storybooks.

Spot the Plot: A Riddle Book of Book Riddles by author/poet J. Patrick Lewis (and illustrated by Lynn Munsinger) is an interactive guessing game book that has brought forth a deluge of giggles and smiles from my two little storybook-lovers.

There are thirteen rhyming riddles within Spot the Plot. Each describes a snippet from (or the general theme of) a popular children’s book. Your child listens to the rhyme, then searches for the clues within the drawn pictures on the page, to see if he/she can “spot the plot!”

Whether it’s guessing “Madeline” thanks to talks of having one’s appendix out (and the Eiffel Tower tumbling out off of the page in a 2D way), or looking at individual picture clues (mittens, a comb and a brush, and a knitting bunny) to guess “Goodnight Moon,” your kids will be delighted as they are tested on their storybook skills.

Spot the Plot: A Riddle Book of Book Riddles retails for $16.99 and can be found at your local bookstore or ordered from Chronicle Books.
