My most memorable holiday trip was the first Christmas my husband and I were married. We went to his parent's house and on the way we made a pit stop at a gas station that sold nude playing cards. My husband insisted on buying the nude men cards for his sister which I felt he shouldn't do because I knew it would upset his parents. Well there was a house full of family and guests, and his sister was showing the cards to her cousins and her dad (my father-in-law) blew up and started screaming and yelling at the top of his lungs. Needless to say, everyone was quiet during his tirade, and soon they all left. Not a good memory, but one that I will never forget.

My most eventful holiday roadtrip began December 26, 2006. We drove from our home in North Platte, 4 hrs east to Omaha where we were to catch a flight to Burbank, CA the next day. All was great until Christmas Eve when I had both ears hurting. I knew I had an ear infection, but all of the doctor offices were closed. I suffered through and made it to the doctor on the 26th, barely in time to get out of town at a decent hour. So anyway, the drive down was fine. The next day we get up, head to the airport and board the plane. This was the first time I had ever flown. Yeah. Sick as a dog! Turns out, I'm not a great flyer! We had a layover in Las Vegas and as soon as we get into the airport, I lost my balance and fell on my hands and knees. Then, I got up and made it (in record time) to the restroom...which I got to know real well. Everyone in our party wanted to eat...that was just about the last thing I wanted to do and my husband coaxed me into eating. Then, on to Burbank. As it turns out, the Santa Ana winds were vicious, we had an extremely rough flight...and I cried the entire time. It was horrible. We did finally make it to Burbank, and on to our destination of Disneyland...and the entire trip I had motion-sickness. Car, plane, bus. Uggghh. It sucked.

It wasn't until we got home that I realized why I was so sick. I was pregnant. After suffering from infertility for 6 years, we were finally adding another little one to our family. While being sick like that was bad...it ended up being a blessing. My daughter Paige is now a 2 year old who lights up my life!

We didn't have as far to go to visit family, but it was a good 1½ hour ride, one memorable trip was my Grandmother had given my mother some of her pots and on the ride home, my sister was reading in the car and got carsick, so we would not have to stop (and waste time) my mother gave my sister one of the pots to throw up in. I was grossed then, and writing about it again now grosses me out again :).

My husband just brought me a tape player for my van. He even installed it for me. Well, on our way down to my parents home for Christmas, we began to smell smoke and was trying to locate the source. Suddenly, the entire tape player was smoking, intensely! There went our music for the trip by home.

Think they'll let you out to pee if you're stuck in the holiday traffic line at the US Canada border for hours and hours? Think again. And then plan your pregnancies accordingly.

We don't travel for the holiday's. But one year we went to an aunt's house for new years. On the way home it was very icy and their was a herd of deer in the middle of the road. We tried to stop but started sliding. Luckily, the entire herd jumped out of the way just as we came sliding toward them.

Loved your roadtrip story! Your poor dad! ;-)

The craziest road trip I can recall was the first Christmas after my husband and I were married. We were determined to be at OUR home on Christmas morning. So, we left my family's house late Christmas Eve night in the middle of a terrible storm. What was normally a 3 hour drive, took almost 5... white knuckles much of the way.

Thanks for the chance!
