From author Marc Rosenthal (writer/illustrator of the adorable book “Phooey”) comes a brand new book about a lovable and adventurous monkey named Archie.
In Archie and the Pirates, the little striped-shirt Archie finds himself shipwrecked on an island (still in his bed, I might add). Making the best of his situation, he begins to scout out food and build himself a house. A curious little ibis named Clarice stops by to welcome him, and an unlikely friendship forms.
More friendships with other island animals form, and Archie is able to call upon all of them when ill-seeking pirates threaten to ruin their peaceful existence. Detailed drawings of Archie’s building materials and hut plans make for a book that our left-brained little 5-year-old adores. (There’s also a diagram of a handmade catapult…how cool is that?!)
The illustrations are old style, reminiscent of Curious George or Babar. The story is accented by the deliciously detailed pictures, where tiny little things pop out every time you read!
