Two new cookbooks from Chronicle Books are geared towards little chefs. We love browsing new cookbooks….my children love to bake. (Especially when licking the beaters or right-from-the-oven taste tests are involved!)
Princess Tea: Parties and Treats for Little Girls (by Janeen A. Sarlin) is pink and pink, through and through! My pink-loving girl took this book out of my hands and immediately rushed to sit and thumb through it.
This is no ordinary tea party planning book. It’s broken up into chapters, each one focusing on a tea party with a theme of some sort. For the Indian tea party, for example, there are instructions on how to make authentic spiced chai tea. For the fairy princess tea party, there are “magical fairy dusted brownies” and sparkly wands. Not only are recipes given, but there are also craft how-tos, favor suggestions, and decoration ideas. You and your daughter(s) can host nine different tea parties that are equally stunning and unforgettable, creative and fun!
Sticky, Gooey, Messy, Chewy Treats for Kids. If the title doesn’t grab your interest, the photo on the front cover certainly will. Jill O’Connor brilliantly combines a delightful, mouthwatering collection of recipes into a charming, soft-padded, spiral-bound cookbook that is the epitome of “kitch.”
The pages are each bordered with charming 50s fabric-like prints, and the outside edges are scalloped! (It’s the little things.) Within this book, 30 simple (yet unbelievably wonderful) recipes beg to be made! Your little ones can help you, or you can surprise them with a breakfast, snack, or dessert treat to harvest giant smiles (and sticky little faces to boot!).
Every photo in the book emits “oohs” and “aahs” from us around here. The Banana Split Pancakes are especially divine and one of our favorites: A giant stack of flapjacks topped with a myriad of strawberries, bananas, and warmed Nutella (a staple at our house!). Fun-loving treats include colored sugar-studded Movie Star Marshmallows and Pinkalicious Princess Cupcakes (inspired by the book, of course).
Both of these books can be purchased directly from Chronicle Books. Both Princess Tea: Parties and Treats for Little Girls and Sticky, Chewy, Messy, Chewy Treats for Kids retail for $19.95.
