Seeds Family Worship

seedslogoScripture memorization is wide open in our house right now. It’s important to us, not just because it was a part of our childhood and adolescence, but because it plants a true seed of Truth within the hearts of our kids that will remain there and grow. It’s not only discipline, it’s worship, when Scripture is learned and recounted. In our house, it is an essential.

BUT. Finding creative ways to teach and rehearse Scripture verses isn’t easy….especially when two wiggly preschoolers are involved! Growing weary of the somewhat repetitive, sing-song Scripture memory song volumes I’d bought in the past, I began to look elsewhere for something a little more upbeat, a little more relevant. That’s when I came across Seeds Family Worship.

Seeds Family Worship pure & simply seeks to “plant the seeds of God’s Word in the hearts of families.” What Seeds is: Extremely high-quality worship songs that’s easy to sing along with and fun to listen to (and dance to) — and it’s 100% Scripture set to music.

Seeds was started when worship leader Jason Houser was asked to write songs to help kids attending his church’s Vacation Bible School to learn Scripture. By the week’s end, he realized what a treasure those tunes were, and he realized how much they’d soaked in and impacted. Kids liked them….families liked them. It’s now grown to include five albums, holding 58 total Scripture passages set to music!

encouragementOur two children are asking to listen these during the day, in the car, and at nighttime, taking the place of past favorite CDs in their bedside CD players. Five are currently in the series: Seeds of Courage (our favorite), Seeds of Faith, Seeds of Praise, Seeds of Purpose, and The Power of Encouragement.

The CDs can be purchased directly from Seeds Family Worship’s store for $12.98 each. Every Seeds CD is packaged as two….one to keep, and one to give to a friend or donate to a ministry. How neat!

Plus: Check out Seeds’ website for printable Scripture Memorization Charts and Memory Cards….and Blog Talk Radio has some downloadable podcasts of Seeds Family Worship, as well!

Win it! Courtesy of the super folks at Seeds Family Worship, I have another set of their five albums to give away to one of you! Just tell me, in a comment below, who you’d like to share these with and why. Or tell me something in particular that jumped out at you or inspired you about Seeds. I’ll close the contest next Wednesday, November 4th, 2009 at 11pm EST. Sorry; US entries only. Good luck!

CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED.

Congratulations to commenter #12, Vanessa, the winner of this 5-CD set!

I’d like to share this with my husband and daughter–we weren’t raised in church growing up and we are having a difficult time trying to find one we feel we belong to. maybe these albums could help in the meantime.

Neat – we have been working on this too! I would probably share the extra set with my friend Heidi who has two little ones keeping her busy!

My 7 yr old is starting to desire knowing God more and we’ve been saying the Lord’s prayer at night. I would love to have music that would reinforce her heart!

I would love to have this for my family. Not only the kids but for me. I would love to memorize scriptures but have a hard time finding the time. Whats not easier to do on rides to and from school and everything else to learn God’s word.

We are ALWAYS on the prowl for decent Christian tunes that our kids would enjoy, and especially scriptures songs that are fun and not reminiscent of the 80′s :)

I would share this with my niece. I would also use these in my pre-K class that I teach. We have started singing Bible songs, and these would be great to add to our morning circle time.

I’d LOVE this for my family. It would add something different to learning scripture. And our daughter loves to sing. What a great way to start or end the day!

Wow! These are so cool! Matthan would love these songs – he is so into singing right now and has been doing so well with his scripture memory from church – this would be perfect for him!
I would also share it with my good friend whose daughter is just three weeks older than Matthan – she would love it too!

  13. Lisa (2 years ago)

I’d like to listen to these with my son.

I have trouble memorizing scripture – I get the thought but can’t always remember the wording. I listened to the sample and love it. I think it would be a great way for my almost-four-year-old to learn as well.

I would share the second copy with my church and let them give it to someone who needs it.

Thank you for a great review and giveaway.
