Three (new) terrific titles for “back to school!”

It’s that time again! The summer is ending, the school buses are vrrrooming around twice a day, and the crickets can be heard loudly at dawn. It’s “back to school time!” Whether you have the new-to-preschool kid to the seasoned soon-to-be third grader, I have three excellent books to tell you about that your kids will love…new this year from HarperCollins.

We all remember Amelia Bedelia, don’t we? The silly little lady who constantly took everything literally…and ended up in some sticky mishaps. Now, for the very first time, you can meet a young Amelia Bedelia in Amelia Bedelia’s First Day of School! Just like her “older self” circa the mid-1960s, Amelia misunderstands directions and suggestions and ends up having a very interesting first day! Your kids will laugh your way through this one. If you remember Amelia Bedelia, you’ll also remember Mercer Mayer’s Little Critter books. Within “The New Adventures of Mercer Mayer’s Little Critter” comes First Day of School. I’d love any of them, but especially the Mercer Mayer book. My little girl will be going to preschool in October and she likes those books already.

We would love First Day of School! My son is obsessed with the Mercer Mayer books. It also sounds like one my son could easily relate to, since he just had his first day.

Fun! I think we’d picked Marley Goes to School, because although our son is a little young for them now (21 months), I know he’d enjoy the Marley book for the dog and grow into the rest eventually.

Oh – I would be hard torn between these three…I loved Amelia Bedelia growing up & remember Mercer Mayer too – such fond memories! However, I would think that Marley would most appeal to the little fella, so I would probably lean that way. FUN!
