Just released last week is a brand new album for kids of all ages from reggae singer/songwriter, Asheba, a Parents’ Choice award winner and the so-called “Pied Piper of Calypso.”

I happen to be a very, very big fan of reggae. It’s my music of choice on those days when I’m driving around in early spring or fall with the windows rolled down. It’s music that instantly puts you in a good mood, and begs you to move along to the beats. Asheba’s In the Kid Zone album is all for the kids….but who says Moms and Dads can’t enjoy it just as much? This one right here does.

There’s everything here that you’d expect from reggae music….jiving guitar riffs, regular drum rhythms (steel drums, bongos, and snare), and deep, soulful lyrics. Yet it’s somehow even more playful and fun for the little masses! Danceable? Yes. Singable? Yes. Enjoyable? Absolutely.

The “Recess Time” tune is perfect for this time of year, when school starting is on all of our minds (including the impatient waiting for recess to arrive)! “Ice Cream” is my kids’ favorite song. “Precious Little Bless” pulls at my heartstrings as I dance around the room with my daughter, listening to its sweet words.
