Sorting laundry (and packing a suitcase) can be fun!

It’s widely known that sorting objects is a multifaceted skill builder for toddlers and preschoolers. In our preschooling-at-home, we try to use sorting activities weekly to build fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. It’s so much more fun if the sorting activity has an element of fun and whimsy!

The Sorting Suitcase by Learning Resources has just that. The suitcase is a sturdy cardboard case with real working buckles to hold it closed. It closes up so compactly for easy travel and storage!

The Sorting Suitcase is full of 40 double-sided clothing cards (shirts, pants, socks, and shoes) that vary in color and pattern. Also included are 15 double-sided activity cards. The cards range from easy (“Find all the blue socks”) to more challenging (“Make a pattern with three different colors”).

My two have a ball with the Sorting Suitcase whenever they pull it out. One big plus is that it requires sharing and teamwork — two things we’re practicing really hard right now!

One great things about kids and games: After a few plays, they begin to come up with new ways to play with the same thing. Rainey’s favorite “variation” is to see what kinds of funky outfit pairings she can create!

My sister got the great suitcase. She says she is perplexed because she is not sure if she wants to save it for her own baby or bring them into her classroom. :)

    Thank You Again,
    Heather
