Want a portable game/activity that has endless possibilities for creativity and skill sharpening? Try tossing in Think-ets on your next trip….to the beach, to a restaurant, to wherever!
Think-ets is small and seemingly simple, but the more you explore what all you can do with this game, you’ll soon see its expandable worth! Housed within a drawstring, mesh bag are 15 teeny, tiny items of various themes from all over the world. There are several different games you can play with these charms, all of which are explained in detail within the included booklet.
We’ve played & enjoyed several of these games. One game lets your child try to guess what Think-et they’re holding while closing their eyes.
Another game tests and improves their memorization skills: They study the Think-ets set down before them for a while. One is taken away (or added) and they guess what’s missing (or what’s new).
The kids immensely enjoyed the game where they could tell a story with the Think-ets we lined up for them. I’ll let you see the improv storytelling in action!

You’ll be happy to hear that the Think-ets are far from being cheap, plastic toys. Many of them are crafted from hand-turned wood, metal, glass, and resin. They are hand-picked form artisans world wide, several pouches containing actual mined geodes and semi-precious gems. The folks at Think-ets also adhere to strict safety standards, so your minds can rest easy. (Because of their size, however, Think-ets aren’t recommended for unsupervised play for children under 3.)
You can buy Think-ets from their online store for $9.99 per pouch. (Free shipping on orders over $50!) Think-ets are also sold at over 100 national, independent children’s toy retailers; check a store near you!
Win it! One of you can have your own pouch of Think-ets to take wherever you’d like to tote them! Just head over the Think-ets site and look around. Come back here and tell me something that interested you or something you learned about Think-ets. I’ll close the contest next Thursday, June 4th, 2009 at 11pm EST. Sorry; US entries only. Good luck!

How fun! I can remember sticking my hand in a brown paper bag and feeling around, trying to guess the object in the bag.
These are a wonderful idea because they cause children to think, can ease boredom and are very portable! Please count me in. Many thanks, Cindi

I learned the activities in this lesson hone math, science and language arts skills as students recognize attributes and use them to categorize groups of trinkets. Teachers and parents will see critical thinking in action as they classify objects, then use graphs to represent the data they generate.

The concept of this game is just amazing. I’m all for games/toys that require kids (& adults as well) to use their imaginations. Not only will this be a fun game to play with the kids in my life but the adults as well. What a simple yet brillant idea!!
