Debuting two new Scholastic Storybook Classics collections!

Brand new from Scholastic (NewKideo.com):  Two new DVD sets from their popular “Treasury of Storybook Classics” collection.  These sets are specifically geared toward either girls or boys.  What a neat gift idea these would be!

Dinosaurs, Trucks, Monsters…and More! is a 4-DVD set including 25 of the greatest “boyish” stories Scholastic has to offer. Celebrity narration by stars such as Anthony Edwards and Chevy Chase make this set even more special. Within these volumes you’ll find such notable tales as: How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food?, I Stink!, The Five Chinese Brothers, and The Mouse and the Motorcycle. By far, our son is partial to the live-action story, The Mouse and the Motorcycle, and watches it often! There are many older classics here that I remember seeing as a girl, as well as a wealth of newer books and films. This would be a great present for a dirt-truck-dino-monster loving boy!

The “girl-ier” DVD set is the Treasury of 25 Storybook Classics: Fairytales, Magic…and More! Housed within these volumes are fairy tales and legends such as Red Riding Hood, The Little Match Girl, Rapunzel, and Strega Nona. I have to admit, out of this collection, I’m partial to Sylvester and the Magic Pebble, a storybook my mom loved and read to me often growing up. Our daughter has an affinity for James Marshall’s Cinderella, a slight spin-off from the well-known tale that happens to be her absolute favorite. Some of the celebrity voices within this set are John Lithgow, Danny Glover, and Patrick Stewart. Wouldn’t any little sugar-and-spice-filled girl like to have this assortment of stories, over six hours of magical, fantastical tales to stir her imagination?

Both of these sets, hot on the shelves today, retail for $29.95 and can be ordered directly from NewKideo.com.

Win it! Scholastic/NewKideo has offered one of you a chance to win your choice of one of these new DVD collections. To enter the contest, go over to Scholastic’s online store and look around. Come back here and tell me, in one comment, another DVD title that caught your eye. Also, be sure to specify which of these new sets you’d prefer if you’re the lucky winner! I’ll close the contest at 11pm next Wednesday, May 27th, 2009. Sorry; US entries only. Good luck!
