We recently received a fun game to review from Patch Products. The game? It’s called Can-Do Roo, and it’s not only a huggable blue kangaroo, but it’s a learning tool, as well!
“Anything Roo Can Do, You Can Do, Too!” is the game’s main idea. Parents of toddlers and preschoolers know what a big deal it is for your children to do things themselves. Moving and interacting with their environments is what makes learning happen….and Can-Do Roo makes moving, learning, and “doing” fun!
The sturdy fabric kangaroo pouch holds several thick cardboard disks which have different “to-do’s” on them. One card might say, “Hop” on the front and “7″ on the back, meaning your child has to hop seven times. Other cards encourage your children/the players to hop to something of a certain shape or color, make sounds and mimic the actions of an animal, or even name something that starts with a particular letter of the alphabet. There are special cards thrown in, too, which have to be passed immediately to another player OR which stop the current game.
My two little ones have so much fun with Can-Do Roo. They almost always convince my husband to join in the game as they play. Before long, we’re all hopping and laughing.
Our daughter takes the tasks of this game very seriously. At 2-1/2, she is exact and precise and LOVES to exert her talents. I’d say this game is probably best suited for children near her age, assuming there’s a grown-up or child nearby who can help read the cards’ instructions aloud.
You can buy Can-Do Roo from Patch Products’ online store for $20, or from online stores such as Amazon. You can also contact Patch Products’ customer service department to find out which stores carry their products near you.
Win it! Patch Products is offering one of you the chance to win Can-Do Roo for your family! Just take a moment or two to browse around Patch Products’ online store, then come back here and tell me in one comment another game or item you think your kids or family would enjoy. I’ll close the contest next Wednesday, March 25th, 2009 at 11pm EST. Sorry; US entries only. Good luck!
