I am thrilled to share with you today a company whose board books stand above the rest: The Good Night Our World book collection. These books are written as wonderful, fact-filled, interactive stories that help your child say “goodnight” to various parts of the world in which we live.
Each book starts out with brightly lit, busy morning scenes of various cities, landmarks, or other notable places. The storyline continues into the afternoon, and the book wraps up with serene, peaceful images of that area at nighttime. It’s a wonderful, quiet way to end the day, as well as to remind our children that people and animals all over the world wake up, live and play, then go to bed to rest at night, just like they do.
The kind folks at Good Night Our World Books sent us a great assortment of titles to review and enjoy. The kids really took to Goodnight Zoo, since the zoo is one of their favorite places to visit (within driving distance)! Of course, Good Night Beach is a favorite, as well….seeing as the kids haven’t stopped talking about our beach trip last summer and are anxiously awaiting our next trek there.
I have to say I have a warm spot in my heart for Good Night Charleston. It commemorates one of our family’s favorite places of all, reminding the kids of the sights they saw there such as the Morris Lighthouse, Rainbow Row, the City Market, and the SC Aquarium.
I love that the children can learn about lesser known areas and sights as I read these books to them, as well as the fact that just looking at the detailed, drawn illustrations will keep them entertained for a long while. They frequently come searching for me, asking me what they’re seeing on each page. Books that start learning-based discussions always have my vote!
The Goodnight Our World series includes a whopping 33 titles at the moment, with a new title just debuting in its ranks, Good Night Our World. These books range from $7.95 to $9.95 and can be bought from any major book retailer, online or off (Amazon included).
Win it! I have FOUR copies of Good Night Our World for four of you guys. What do you need to do for a chance to win? Just browse Good Night Our World’s wide myriad of titles, then come back here and, in one comment, tell me another title you believe your children would really enjoy. I’ll close the contest at 11pm EST next Tuesday, February 10th, 2009. US entries only; sorry. Good luck!

There are so many to chose from. To bad there wasn’t one for MI. It would make deciding so much easier. I think we’d pick either the Goodnight Atlanta, as my parents live right outside that area and Elijah has visited the different exhibits recently or the Goodnight Zoo as he’s a big fan of that too. I on the other hand love the Goodnight Tennessee since that’s where I grew up.
