Your pet — What does he/she do all day?

Uncle Milton has done it again. They’ve come up with a toy (gadget) that all kids, young and old (and even adults!) will love playing with. This time, pets don’t have to be excluded from the fun. Why, they’re the center of attention with this bite-sized contraption!

Enter the Pet’s Eye View Camera! It’s a tiny still-shot camera that attaches to the collar of your feline or canine (or any other collar-wearing, scurrying pet you may own). You can set the camera to take pictures at 1, 5, or 15 minute intervals. The internal memory card stores up to 40 photos at one time.

Right after the camera arrived, we hooked it right up to the family computer with the included USB cable to charge overnight. The next morning, we set the camera up to take snapshots every 5 minutes, then we chased down our cat, Odyssey, to be the first test subject. The camera slid right onto her collar with ease, yet it was tight enough that I didn’t have to worry about her losing it if she ventured outdoors. She didn’t seem to mind wearing it all, let alone notice it.

We set Odyssey loose — first inside the house, then out.

Here are a few indoor shots:

(She loves to take long naps underneath our daughter’s crib, which explains the last photo above.)

The only slight quandry we had was her spunky personality realizing that we wanted that camera back. When she realized we were trying to catch her, she began to play a game of “catch me if you can,” hence the funny shots of my husband attempting to coax her from underneath our front yard’s shubbery:

We don’t own a dog (not yet!), so I toted the Pet’s Eye View Camera over to my parents’ house to let their chihuahua, Bella, try it on for size.

She was also quite unaffected by the object dangling from her collar, and in a couple of days, my mom sent these photographs to me to show me what Bella had been doing. She was obviously moving from room to room a lot (typical Bella), bothering the cats, and assuming her favorite sitting spot, my mom’s lap:

So much fun! Every time we plug the camera back into the USB port and upload the newly snapped photos, we can start with a clean slate and let our pets go for another round of “pet paparazzi.”

My husband, ever the clever, thinking-outside-of-the-box inventive type, has come up with other possible uses for this portable cam:

- Clipping it to a purse strap for a day full of shopping around town
- Attaching it to his satchel for catching fun shots of his day at work for the curious kids to look at later
- Strapping it to the front of our car before a road trip

These are not recommended uses for this Uncle Milton pet cam, nor am I recommending them, either. Just wanted to share them for fun!

Uncle Milton’s Pet’s Eye View Cam has a SRP of $49.99 and can be found at numerous online and brick-and-mortar retailers (including ThinkGeek and Perpetual Kid). It can also be ordered through a link from Uncle Milton’s website, as well. Not recommended for children under 3.

Win it! Uncle Milton’s Toys has very generously offered FIVE of you a chance to win the Pet’s Eye View Camera! All you need to do is head over to Uncle Milton’s site and browse around. Come back here and tell me in a comment another one of their products you think your family would love. I’ll close the contest at 11pm EST next Tuesday, January 20th, 2009. US entries only. One comment only per person; duplicate commenters will be disqualified. Good luck!!

Pretty neat stuff. I think the RC Skunk would be great to buy to tease our dog with. Though I think he would rip it apart long before I could cause serious long term mental damage with my teasing! Seriously, I am kidding, but Irwin, our dog, would love to chase that skunk around, however, the skunk’s days would surely be numbered. The stuffed sheep Santa brought him for Christmas lasted, oh I don’t know, HALF a day. Thanks for the great giveaway.

story :) Not to mention I kind of like your husband idea of thinking outside the box. I would love to attach this to my hat while four wheeling with friends. We might just catch some good footage or hook it to one of the horses. That site is so cool~! My nephew actually got 2 creepy creatures the Snake and Tarantula RC’s and we had a blast playing with them. The dog didn’t like them to much though and the Tarantula looked to real for me!!!
