Skin MD: When your skin requires more than standard care.

When I was contacted about reviewing Skin MD Natural lotion for hands & body, I promptly sprinted back a response. YES!! I have always had dry skin….but in the wintertime, it becomes really parched. I have mild eczema in spots, but my main complaint has always been my hands. As soon as October hits and the days get cooler & drier, my hands begin to slowly transform into scaly, alligator-like appendages. It’s true. It’s not pretty.

Sometimes, they get so dry that they begin to crack and bleed at my knuckles. It’s not fun (and not pretty) to go around all winter long with Batman band-aids wrapped around my fingers.

You name the remedy, I’ve tried it:
- Drank more water.
- Slathered my hands with Vaseline and slept with socks on my hands.
- Used dermatologist-recommended brands (yes, actually recommended by my actual dermatologist).
- Used sloughing creams 2-3 times per week.
- Stopped washing my hands in case water was the culprit. (Ew.)
- Only washed in cold or tepid water, since hot water supposedly leeches moisture. (Brr!)

Some of these worked for a while, but nothing made a lasting impression. I began to resolve that this is the way things would be for me from now on.

Until! Skin MD Natural arrived at my house for me to test. If there were ever a test subject, I was the one. I promptly opened the box and put some on my hands. Instant relief. As the hours wore on, I noticed that my hands were staying soft….and that when I did wash them, they still felt soft. This must be the shielding lotion properties that Skin MD boasts.

Skin MD Natural had a light scent….with the SPF, too….which gave it a beach-y smell….reminded me of summer. *grin* I loved how it didn’t feel greasy or sticky — as moms, we don’t need to be restricted by residue on our hands!

I’d heard of Skin MD Natural (they’ve been getting a lot of positive press lately), but I didn’t realize how much I would love it until I tried it. I’m so glad I did.

Want to know more? Skin MD Natural’s helpful website has so many informative tips and research findings to help clarify how different this lotion is than its competitors. Read in-depth findings from doctors….or even watch how the shielding lotion can protect from things such as acid!

If you are frustrated by what you’ve tried and you really need a new skin care product that actually works, then I highly recommend you try Skin MD Natural. Drive…no, run….to your nearest store and purchase some today. (How do I know who carries Skin MD, you ask? Just look here.)

Win it! Skin MD Natural would love to offer one of you a bottle of Skin MD Natural shielding lotion! All you have to do is head over to Skin MD Natural’s website and read up a little on their product. Come back and tell me one interesting tidbit, research finding, or tip that you learned in a comment. (One comment only; duplicate comments will be disqualified.) US entries only. I’ll close the contest at 11pm EST on Sunday, December 28th, 2008. Good luck!

A shielding lotion keeps moisture-robbing irritants away from the skin while the proprietary “super” humectants hydrate the skin throughout the day.

As well as their humectant being 6 times more hydrating than glycerin.

Wow – this sounds like the cream for my hands. I am going to look for it for sure. I have the lovely cracked and bleeding hands in winter too. Not only is it not attractive, but it stings! I get frustrated with having to constantly reapply to combat it – I don’t have time in my day for that!

Very interesting – this is a shielding lotion which bonds with the outer layer of your skin keeping irritants out and sealing in moisture as opposed to a conventional lotion which simply adds surface moisture to temporarily alleviate dryness and itching.

I’ve been washing my hands a lot since my babies were born and it has really dried them out. This lotion sounds great!

I was interested to learn that it is safe to use on the face. I have had trouble for years finding something that worked without causing breakouts or severe irritation.
    Thanks for the great giveaway.

I’m glad to learn that it’s fragrance and colorant free. I NEED this stuff — like you, I’ve tried everything. :-(

This product helps prevent loss of natural oils and moisture, doesn’t allow irritating substances to penetrate the skin and absorbs the part of UV spectrum that contributes to premature skin ageing and development of skin cancer.

I’d love to be entered, this lotion sounds amazing! Thanks for entering me.

It’s so cold where I live and I went from living in a very humid place to a completely dry area. I love the fact that it’s moisturizes 6 times more than glycerin!

I think it is interesting that a gynecologist was on the research team, but I can’t seem to figure out why this was important..but it is interesting, nonetheless!

  9. Roxy (3 years ago)

I learned that a “Shielding Lotion is far more effective as a dry skin treatment than conventional moisturizing lotions or protective creams.”

  10. Jackie (3 years ago)

I learned that a humectants is a substance that promotes retention of moisture. Some humectants actually draw moisture from the air to further moisturize the skin.

    This looks like great stuff!

I didn’t realize that plain old soap could be so drying to your skin. Great giveaway. Thanks for the chance.

Shielding Lotions are a new type of skin care product based on years of research into how skin heals. They form a protective shield with the outer layer of skin and help keep out irritants. They allow the natural oils and moisture to remain in the skin so it can heal better and they’re light in texture so they go on without a greasy mess
Because my daughter has skin problems I am so go to try this to see if it works

Wow! This sounds like my dream cream! And I have hands just like yours…that crack & bleed & are so dry in the winter. I thought when we moved to FL that would change…but it hasn’t! On the website, I learned that the Walgreens near me carries it (along with some local grocery store pharmacies)! I’ll have to try some and I hope I win some too!

  17. Kimberly (3 years ago)

DH & I both suffer from very dry skin each winter and this would be a wonderful product to try!
According to their site this product works because “The secret is that it does not allow the body’s moisture to leave and it does not allow chemicals to enter”.
Thanks for the chance to win!

I love that it is also SPF 15..so I get two products in one. The sun block feature is so important.

  19. Aimee (3 years ago)

I learned that Skin MD Natural™ is promptly absorbed, without the slightest hint of any greasy or oily feeling or residue, transforming the outer layer of skin into a hydrating invisible shield. Sounds wonderful!! We’re suffering through the long, dry winter up here in MN – this would be lovely to try!!

I always struggle with finding a really good lotion – so many seem either too liquidy or make me feel greasy for ages. I love that this one has a moisturizing factor that’s 6x better than glycerin…sounds like a fantastic product! Hope to win, but if not, sounds like I need to pick up a bottle! :)
