This book is the best book….simple enough for little minds and ears, yet holding within it a HUGE message. Do You Love Me? by Joost Elffers is a book filled with very little words…but the words do just enough.
Little ones (bubbly, roly-poly, and whimsically crafted) animals and creatures ask their parents if they’re loved & needed, and fish for confirmation that they’ll always belong to someone. These are questions that inevitably come up within any little child’s heart at one time or another….and what a special time for a mom or dad to be able to cuddle with and read to their little one(s), reassuring them with the words within this book!
My children, 2 and 4, enjoyed this book immensely….and I can also see it as being a perfect baby shower gift. Reading should begin early….why not a book like this one!? Another great idea would be to give this as a gift to an adopting family to read to their new addition. The boundaries are limitless for this special title.
Look inside the book here, if you wish, or go here to watch an adorable, musical video piece inspired by the book.
Do You Love Me? retails for $14.99 and can be found wherever books or sold….HarperCollins Children’s has put together a helpful links list to help you find your desired online retailer, if you wish to go that route.
Win it! HarperCollins Children’s has offered to send one of you lucky ones a copy of this book….to keep for your own little ones or to give as a meaningful gift. Just leave a comment here telling me who you’d love to give it to….one comment only, please, and US entries only….and I’ll choose a winner next Tuesday, December 23rd at 9am EST. Good luck!

I have not seen this book before – it sounds right up my alley! I would definitely give it to my son. I think it would not only be a special story for any child to hear from a parent, but as you mentioned, for an adopted child. They will always have a question deep down inside regarding their lovability and this is a perfect and normalizing way to reassure them of how special, treasured, loved and valued they are! Thanks for the opportunity.
