Raise a bilingual child!

I took four years of Spanish in middle and high school and intended to take more….but because of scheduling conflicts in college, I resorted to French.  Though the novel learning experiences of French expanded my mind quite a bit, I now wish I’d found a way to improve my Spanish…..if nothing else, just so I could be more fluent in it and be able to easily teach it to the kids.

For other parents who also desire to instill the love of foreign language in their children, you might know that there are several compteting products on the market in this category.  I’ve read and looked at lots and lots of programs focusing on Spanish for little ones, and by far, I believe Boca Beth does the best at introducing the language to tots.

Boca Beth was started by Beth Butler, a bilingual educator of young children. Her products have earned numerous awards and are considered some of the finest products available for teaching children a second language. Boca Beth’s offerings are widely used by Head Start programs, school teachers, homeschooling moms, and also moms who want to enrich their children’s learning by adding in foreign language at a young age.

Here are some more great things about Boca Beth company, their philosophy, and products:

- Their packaging is green…environmentally friendly inks and papers are used.
- Their products reach every learning style — kinetic learners (puppets, coloring books, and maracas), visual learners (DVDs) and auditory learners (CDs). This works well for our family….our son is a kinetic learner and our daughter leans heavily toward both the visual and auditory learning styles.
- Language acquisition is easier during and around the preschool years, when a child’s mind is very impressionable and memorization occurs more easily.
- Research shows that 2nd language acquisition improves test scores and aptitude in other academic areas, as well.

Beth sent our family several of their most popular and influential products to try. Right away, our daughter took to the music CD. She finds it and bring it to me, asking for “Spanish? Spanish!!!” The tunes are easy to sing with and recognizable tunes, which makes learning the words much easier.

The “I Like Animals” DVD is fun and interactive. My children are boasting that they can recite the Spanish names for common animals. Real children are shown in the video, which as any parent knows, immediately draws young viewers in!

The kids also received a personal letter welcoming them to the Boca Beth program, not to mention two fun coloring books to help seal in what they learn.

This family gives Boca Beth dos pulgares arriba! (Two thumbs up!) The kids are learning, and I am getting a fun refresher course!

Win it! Boca Beth is offering one of you a Boca Beth Beginner Set! Just head over to Boca Beth, browse around a while, then come back here and tell me in one comment the item you’d like to use first in order to help your children learn Spanish. (Duplicate comments will both be deleted.) I’ll close the contest next Thursday, December 18th, at 11pm EST and announce the winner the next day. Good luck!

I would choose the activity books. Josiah loves to color and this is an engaging activity that provides learning opportunities at this stage. :-)

the puppet is really cute :)

I think that the My House DVD would be a great way to start teaching my daughter some beginner words.

I’d like to try the “my house” dvd for my son.

I like the idea of ‘Sing Along with Boca Beth’ CD – we’re trying to focus more on cds than dvds to scale back the tv usage…thanks!

I”d definitely use the “My House” DVD – my kids love videos with other kids on it, so I know they’d eat this up!!!

I would love the BOCA BETH Gigante Bag

I want my son to learn a second language because most of my family cannot speak English and I would like him to communicate with them also. Also in the future he can get paid more money for being a bilingual speaker

I’d use the My House DVD with BOCA the puppet. I love that they have incorporated music into the program, my son is always singing songs so I think he’d respond well to this.

Thanks for the giveaway.
