A mammoth collection of animal and nature tales!

Scholastic’s multi-DVD sets are the best. The folks at Scholastic are the finest at combining similar-themed tales into one fun pack! Their Storybook Treasures collection is gaining awards left and right (the Gold Award from NAPPA and the Parent’s Choice Award most recently). This new Treasury of 20 Storybook Classics is no exception when it comes to quality — and the overall “theme” is animals — cute and cuddly critters! (Well, spiders are in here, too. Those aren’t exactly cute and cuddly, but they are critters.)

This smart-priced pack of best-loved favorites include adaptations from newer titles as well as long-ago loved classics that even I remember reading (and watching on filmstrip!) as a child. With all other Scholastic stories on DVD, these aren’t mean to replace reading by any means, but instead to augment it. When a child knows a book by heart, back and forth, and upside down, watching it spring into life, animated on screen gives the tale a whole new meaning and value.
