Between Me & You — For those things you mean to say.
Two of the most treasured items in my home are a couple of journals my grandparents filled out at my request and returned to me a few years back. The pages are filled with wonderful memories, vivid historical accounts, and heartfelt sentiments just to me — all hand-written on pages, keepsakes complete. I wouldn’t trade these for anything.
Sometimes it’s easier to write our true thoughts and feelings than to share them verbally. Sometimes pondering life’s questions and writing through them are the best way to answer them, even if it takes a while.
That’s why I love Between Me & You Journals by Sand Dune Publishing. These books are exactly the ticket for a sentimental gift that really does give back. The idea is to buy one for a family member, spouse, or friend and ask them to fill it out and return it to you at a later date. Maybe it’ll take just long enough for you to forget about it — and so it becomes a surprise for you down the road, too, making it that much more special.
I received the “Honey” journal from Sand Dune books to look through and review. I left it on my husband’s pillow for him to find when he returned home from work. He has begun penning his thoughts and dreams within its pages, and in a few months, I can look forward to reading all he wrote. He knows that the written word has a special path into my heart, and so this “gift” couldn’t have been more appropriate for us to share.
The book is spiral bound with a thick cover — very easy to write in and durable to tote. The questions are varied and not commonplace — several of them delve deep and make you think of things you haven’t honed in on before. Here are a few examples:
- “If you could relive one moment from our past, what would it be? Why?”
- “What previous experiences do you wish I could have shared with you?”
- “What kinds of changes, if any, have I ever inspired you to make?”
These books would make fabulous Christmas gifts, or gift add-ons, for those special people in your life. What a neat idea for a baby shower gift, as well — a Mom journal to be filled out by the mom-to-be to hand over to her child one day? Whoever you decide to give a journal to, it will not be a gift taken lightly.
Between Me & You journals can be ordered directly from their website for only $14.95 each. You can pay by Visa or MasterCard, or even with PayPal.
Win it! Sand Dune Publishing has generously offered a lucky reader two Between Me & You journals of his/her choice! Isn’t that wonderful?
All you must do is go to their website, browse the titles available, and then come back and tell me in a comment which two you’d pick, and if you’d like, why. U.S. entries only. I’ll leave the contest open until Tuesday, October 14th at 11pm EST. The winner will be announced the next morning.
AND! If you’d like to go ahead and place an order now, Sand Dune Publishing has graciously offered 10% off of your order through Saturday, October 11th, 2008. All you need to do is type in “MEG SENT ME” in the comment section of the online order form.
Good luck to you all!

I would definitely pick the “Honey” one - when we dated, I always loved it when Brad wrote letters to me, there’s just something about reading his thoughts…so I know I would love this!
2nd I would probably go with the “Son” and try to get a headstart with it before baby girl’s born!
Thanks!

I’d pick a pair of honey journals, for my SO and me. So much of our relationship is intangible; the idea of having something tangible to hold and read is wonderful.

I would get the Honey one to fill out for my wonderful husband. His birthday is November 5th-this would be a great gift! And I would like the daughter one for my oldest. I was a single mom with her and I have many things written down for her on various pieces of stationary and journals-it would be nice to have it all in one spot!

If I am not lucky enough to win these journals, rest assured, I will be buying them for my entire family for Christmas. I would love the Mom and Grandma. I have a 93 year-old grandmother and this would be wonderful to give her because she is full of wisdom and insight. THANK YOU!!!
*I wish I could get my husband to fill out the HONEY journal :)*

Wow, how cool. I would pick the honey one for my Brother and his gf of 7 years, he is 23 and going to Iraq in about 8 months, and I think they would do very well with it.
Then I would get the Mom one for my mom. We have had our up’s and down’s but I think it would be good, and she is dealing with her mom getting older and more fragile right now, so I think it would be a great bonding too. thanks so much for the introduction to these!

Since my dad died, I’ve realized how much I wish he’d written down some of his stories, so while I still have her, I would want my mom to do one. I also like the “honey” journal. Great contest!

Ok I have three (am I allowed?:):) def Mom and Dad because I would love to have those unspoken words and stories forever. I would also choose Honey because hey what girl doesn’t want it from her dh.

These are great! I would definitely pick the Dad and son. I love the honey one too, but I bought my husband a journal for the two of us as our paper gift for our first year anniversary that we use to write each other notes. I had a journal going with my son, and now he is in his teens and this would be perfect. My dad and I live very far apart and writing has always been the best way for us to communicate this would be awesome! Thanks so much for the opportunity.

I would love the mom one. There has always been alot my mother wants to say, but for some reason can never get out. I think this would be an excellent way for her to tell me her thoughts. I would also love to do one for my son. The other one I really like is the honey. I think it would be neat to get two and both DH and I fill them out for each other now after we’ve been together for 5 years and then 25+ years from now look back at our answers and reanswer the questions after all that time and see what has changed and what we remember different.

I would definately pick the Honey and the Mom books! My favorite gift from my honey is always the card, because he takes the time to write something special inside and not just sign it, so this would be his all time perfect gift to me!

I would like son so I could do one for my baby on the way. The other one is a toss up between honey and sister. I know my sister would enjoy writing in it and we would enjoy the memories. I would love honey if I knew my hubby would fill it out.
