WFMW – Click-N-Ship!

Because of Muse Reviews (and the fact that I have friends in far away places), I’m pretty much mailing packages every week. This got to be a burden, if you can imagine….packaging up the kids and the boxes and making sure I had my wallet, then balancing all of these things in the stroller or my arms as I crossed the parking lot and navigated the busy post office crowds.

Not anymore. If I want to ship United States Postal Service Priority Mail, I don’t even have to leave home. How? Click-N-Ship. Signing up for an account is free — and as long as you have packing supplies and a black & white printer, you’re immediately on your way to being able to ship priority envelopes and boxes from your desk at home.

I have a set of inexpensive postal scales that I use to approximate package weight to the nearest 1/2 pound. You can request FREE Priority envelopes and boxes of all sizes from USPS’s online store. After that, all you need is some packaging tape.

Something a lot of people DON’T know is that you get a slight discount for using online mailing services versus taking them in-store! That PLUS not having to wait in line? Why wouldn’t you?

You can request a carrier pickup for Priority packages at no extra charge, as well. This is especially helpful on rainy days when I don’t want to risk my mailed packages getting wet (or if the price value of the package contents is too high to just hang on the mailbox flag).

I tell you, Click-N-Ship has saved me gas money, time, and energy. It’s changed my life! I may be running the risk of telling all of you about something you already know, but then again….perhaps there’s someone out there who had no idea this possibility existed. And if so, then congratulations! Your life has just gotten a whole lot easier, just as mine has!

USPS’s Click-N-Ship works for me!

Go read other WFMW ideas this week at Rocks In My Dryer….and next week, WFMW will have a brand new host/home

I had no idea you could do this, that is really nice when you have kids!

Excellent idea. I send a package now about once every month or two, and my kids like the novelty of going to the post office. But I am sure if I started sending out more stuff that novelty would wear off in a heartbeat.

I never knew this existed! It’s new to me! I’ve always wished there was a drive-through post office. :) I have 2 toddlers and so it’s not the easiest having to get the kids in the car and out of the car just to wait in line and then back in the car again. I love sending little packages to friends and family, but I don’t do it as often because of this problem. I’ll have to check this out. Thanks!

I LOVE click-n-ship! I really wish we had something like it with the postal service here.

I have wanted to try this many times…thanks for the extra information.

I do that too! I do ebay sometimes and love that they will pick it up at the door for you. All I have to do is remember to put the package out in the morning :)

Thanks for this post! I am using paypal shipping, but I’ll check this out too!

Ugh…I just dragged two kids out, in the cold, to mail out a package…and the postman told me I can print out First Class postage from home! Score!

I used to use this service all the time, but now, like Angela, I use Paypal shipping. I ship a lot of books and Click-N-Ships doesn’t allow for media mail postage and paypal does.

GREAT post though. The free boxes, the scheduled pick-up – saves a LOT of people a LOT of time!

ran across your blog while i was surfin’ around some others. and you have some great content here. there’s lots to check out and i’m really enjoying my stay. i’d like to invite you for a pop on over to my blog if you’d like. i’d love to have you. :) i’ve subscribed to your feed so i’ll be coming back for sure.
