Q & A – Part 2

Here are a few more questions you asked!

Q. What are your 5 favorite blogs and WHY?

A. Well! It’s completely difficult to choose my top five — I read and enjoy over 100 blogs weekly (and that’s still after cutting a few over the weekend to uphold my resolutions), but here are some of my top favs:
1. AVClub (my husband’s blog *wink*)
2. 5 Minutes for Mom (they have a little bit of it all: Heartfelt articles & interviews, parenting tips, festive ideas for special occasions, reviews, contests, and much more.)
3. Blissfully Domestic (A blog or a website? Can’t tell. But lots and lots of good stuff here!)
4. SimpleMom (Articles, ideas about how to live simpler, enjoy life more.)
5. Rocks In My Dryer (Been reading this for a while. The best are her honest, raw, tender recollections and scenarios about motherhood.)

Q. What are your favorite homeschooling resources?

A. I can’t live without my file cabinet. Within it is every magazine article, craft how-to, recipe, and printable page I’ve ever held onto, all organized into folders by topic. Thanks to my wonderful aunt, too, a former preschool teacher, these folders are always being bolstered with novel material and cute ideas.
I use a lot of books and other resources from our local library. I also milk my Netflix queues for educational DVDs that go with our lessons (age-appropriate, obviously).
Overall, though, I get most of my tips, ideas, and aids from online helps (blogs, curriculum sites, and others), which can all be found over in the “Preschooling Links” tab at the top of this blog. I refer to most of these on a weekly basis.

Q. What are your 3 favorite books?

A.
1. The Bible
2. Little Women
3. Anne of Green Gables
(Classics like #2 and #3 are about all I deem worthy of “repeat reads.”)

Q. What is your favorite recipe?

A. Well, to actually post my all-time favorite recipe here would be a sacrifice of family secrecy, for it is the recipe of a special Christmas cookie every woman in my family makes from scratch every year. Sorry; can’t divulge that one.

But my favorite food of all time is pancakes, and I’ve found that Cooking Light’s Buttermilk Pancakes recipe is the best, no-frills, always-good-to-go-to recipe for pancakes that satisfy every time!

I have a question for you. What are some favorite DVDs for your kids. We’re always looking for new ideas – both for school and for fun.
