Our day.

Our little R had a rough night last night — a pesky, coupy cough made for changed plans and a take-it-easy day.

After breakfast, G worked on one of his favorite activities: Mazes. He completes them quicker than I can find more. This mini travel book of mazes is filled in completely — we’re now on round two, me erasing them for him to do all over again.

We are still having fun with the farm unit this week, even though this is a repeat theme from last year. We learned that pigs stay cool by playing in the mud (“Cool! Can we try!?”) and that cows eat grass.

R pulled out the Melissa & Doug See & Spell puzzle again this afternoon — and proceeded to repeat phonetic starting sounds of each picture word. She very well might be ready to learn to read right along with her brother…

Mid-afternoon sniffles and aggravations quickly escalated to tears. Though I hate to use food as a pacifier, I realized it was nothing that some warm cinnamon rolls couldn’t fix.

The four o’clock hour found us pulling out the PlayDoh and creating who knows what! R asked me to
help her cut out some “gingerbread boys,” a basket, and a basketball. This little sports buff proceeded to play a game with her doughy friends, right there at the dining room table. Her imagination is growing by leaps and bounds!

Dinnertime found me wondering what on earth we’d eat — no time for grocery shopping, so I threw together a few things and made a (pretty good) baked ziti. After quick baths for the kids, we ended our day by letting the kids share a stroller as we took a brisk after-dinner stroll around the neighborhood.

Hopefully R will feel more up to more tomorrow….

I enjoy your blog!!! Thanks for all the activities and fun things you share with us. Something I thought might help you out with the mazes, is we tear apart our books (gasp) and put them in plastic sheet protectors. I found some really cute dry erase markers with a little felt eraser on the end and stuck those in a pouch in the front – now we can do them over and over (and over) again adn they are very easy to erase!!
