- If you have a tween or pre-teen daughter, I have a wonderful bookshelf recommendation: The Mandie Series. I read them and adored them — I even met the author when I was 14. She passed away last week, and that reminded me how much I loved her writings and how glad I have them tucked away in the attic for R to enjoy one day.
