We autumn-ized another one of our favorite activities. (Can you tell this is my favorite season?) The kids’ favorite boredom buster is play dough, and I happened to come across an apple cinnamon version of the homemade kind. This recipe doesn’t need cooking, either, which is a plus for little hands eager to help (and not willing to wait around too long for it to cook and cool)!
No-Cook Apple-Cinnamon Play Dough
1 cup apple cider
1 cup salt
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 Tablespoon ground cinnamon
Place cider in a large bowl. An optional step here is to add some food coloring — I chose not to, to keep ours looking like authentic spiced-cookie dough. Add salt, flour, and cinnamon, and blend well. Will gradually thicken and stiffen as you stir. Turn out and knead until mixed well. Play!!
I expected this dough to give off a pleasant odor while we played, but I was not prepared for how utterly delicious it really did smell. The spice-studded dough looked just like cookie dough. R rolled and patted and cut out to her heart’s content.
I fashioned a spicy little dough teddy bear while I watched the children play. Moments after this photo was taken, though, alas, the teddy bear was unmercifully squashed by the splatting hands of a little four-year-old boy I know. ;)

Would you happen to know what liquid we can use once cider season is over?
