Review and Giveaway – Little Leaders DVD collection
For those of you who are tired or discouraged with how little is available for our little ones’ eyes with respect to quality entertainment in digital form:
I would like to introduce to you an exciting, creative collection of Biblical DVDs geared towards babies and toddlers. I give you…Little Leaders. I stumbled across this company a few months ago via a link from another blog I frequent.
I was beginning to be burnt out by the standard DVD selections for infants and toddlers. Sure, they’re great and so very educational….but what about educating beyond the normal concepts such as shapes, colors, music, and letters? What about a program that will help to encourage the moral precepts we’re trying to instill in our children? A series that will increase their knowledge and understanding of the Bible in a colorful, entertaining, fun way? These fit the bill exactly.
Little Leaders currently has four DVD episodes. Little Ruth teaches respect for leaders in charge (think fireman, police officers, and teachers) as well as those within our family (parents and grandparents are included, and sibling relations are brought up). Little Moses gives a Biblical recount of Moses’ life and journey — from the basket in the reeds of the river all the way up to God using him to help save a nation. Little Joesph stays true to the Biblical story of Joseph as it stresses the importance of obedience to God and courage in Him. Little Noah tells of the story of the building of the ark (complete with the names of animals on board) as well as the faithfulness of Noah and his family and the lasting promise of God to mankind.
These DVDs are chock full of endearing puppets (Sheppy Sheep, Oscar Ox, and JoJo Giraffe, just to name a few) who are fun to watch and follow. Real people within the show drive home examples clearly. Clever music and catchy lyrics abound — our kids were singing along by the end of the program! 3D animation in words and graphics enhance the overall showing.
As if all of this wasn’t enough, the DVDs also have optional play modes in other languages (such as Spanish, Danish, Russian, Chinese or Italian)!* Also included is a “Fundy Pak,” which teaches up to 25 sign language motions in three, themed, easy-to-swallow nuggets. This little (but big) extra can enhance any young toddler’s vocabulary and increase how well he/she can communicate with you!
Little Leaders also carry a 24-title “Big Songs” CD with most-loved, singable songs, including songs from their DVD episodes. (They also offer posters, cups, bibs, and coloring books.)
Go and check out Little Leaders’ site — it houses much more information about their stellar products, complete with clips and samples of each episode.
AND WHAT ABOUT THIS!? Little Leaders has very generously offered sets of ALL FOUR of their DVDs to FOUR of you! Incredible!
All you must do is go visit Little Leaders’ site and tell me which of their DVDs appeals to you (or you think would appeal to your children) the most and WHY. Leave only one comment. I will close the contest at 11pm EST next Friday, September 12th. I’ll randomly pick the FOUR lucky winners and announce them the next day! Sorry….US entries only….good luck!
* Extra language options vary according to DVD title.

Josiah is into animals right now, so Little Noah would probably be his dvd of choice!

What a neat set of DVDs. My son would love any of them, but I imagine Little Noah would be hs favorite at this point because he likes to see all the animals. Thanks for the review!

I think all four titles in the series look good, but I would have to agree with the above commenters that animals would be the biggest hit around here, so I would go with Little Noah.

I think we would enjoy the Little Ruth DVD. My children are very familiar with the other Bible stories (not that they wouldn’t enjoy them as well) but the story of Ruth is not one that they hear a whole lot. What a neat idea!

I think my kids would really like the Little Moses one. Elijah would enjoy the counting espically in other languages and Liliana is just the right age for beginning sign language. Oh I do hope we win this giveaway!

I think my kids (along with the others!) would really like the Little Noah DVD. Not only would the animals appeal, but they are very curious about God taking care of them, and I think the example of God caring for Noah and his family would be great! Thanks for the great giveaway!

I really like the idea of these. I think I like Little Joseph, because many times in our world today people think of religion as blind obedience, when really standing for your beliefs does take a lot of courage. Thanks for leting me know these are out there.

My kids would love the “Little Ruth” DVD—we’ve been practicing “r-e-s-p-e-c-t” in our house and I know my little ones (4 and 1 1/2) would really get into this DVD!
Thanks for the opportunity–anything (quality) we can get our hands on that helps us teach God’s love to our little ones is a great thing!

I think my daughter would enjoy “Little Moses” as she is really into babies lately since her brother was born in June. I think she would like to watch the story of Moses being saved as a baby and growing into a great leader. She is also just starting Sunday School and very excited about Jesus and I want to expand her knowledge on religion while she wants to soak it all up! Thanks for considering us!

I think the kiddies would enjoy little Noah because they’re always fascinated by how Noah fit all the animals in there and how he got them all to behave! LOL! What a neat find!

We recently learned about Ruth in church. The Ruth video would be a wonderful complement to help further instill the values we learn in church.
Thank you for the wonderful give-away!

What a wonderful way to be able to incorporate the stories from the bible to children with special needs! My Parker would love these.
My vote would be for Noah with animals or Joesph with colors.
I’m excited!

Hi,
Thanks for the great giveaway! I’d love Little Ruth for my kids. I think the lessons would be very positive and we use sign language and I notice a bonus track in sign.

I think Walker would love any of the videos, but I love that the Little Moses one includes the Fundy Pak with the 3 sign language segments…seems like that would be especially helpful as we approach the 2 year mark. Thanks for the great resource!

These look great. I like the idea of the “Little Ruth” DVD best, as talking & acting with respect is something we are always working on around here, and very few children’s shows seem to encourage it!

What a great idea for videos. My daughter is constantly looking for movies for the kids to watch on Sabbath while getting ready for church. I think the Little Ruth DVD has some great ideas. Every little one needs to learn how to respect those around them.

Little Noah would probably be our choice…for obvious reasons (my son’s name)
