Today’s WFMW is an idea somewhat inspired by Thingamababy’s “tracing books for toddlers”: Making your own write-on/wipe-off activity sheets. All you do is slip printable mazes, dot-to-dots, counting sheets, letter tracing pages, etc. into clear, acrylic sheet protectors. (You know….the sleeves you just had to have in high school to protect those slaved-over term papers.) I bought a big box of 50 at the local office store for under $10.
I put pages into the sleeves (some printed, some from activity books I’ve bought, and some taken from Brighter Vision curriculum packets) and assembled them into a notebook.
We bought a pencil/pen bag that neatly clips into the three-ring notebook and houses all of the wipe-off markers and the eraser.
This notebook is toted with us everywhere….in the car for errands, to waiting rooms, to the hair salon, even to the beach last week. It’s a valuable resource! G thinks he’s lucky because he gets to write with pens….he doesn’t realize how much he’s learning in the process!
(Plus, I’m cheering because it saves worksheets from being used once and thrown away!)
Pretty soon I’ll be making a notebook for R.
Here are some of our favorite online sources for printables with which to fill the notebook:
First School’s printables for preschoolers
Preschool worksheets from TLS Books
**And by the way….does anybody know where I might buy/order washable dry-erase markers? I’d be much appreciative (and so would my Spray-and-Wash bottle).

Love this idea!

This is a wonderful idea!!! And, I feel wasteful having spent $15 on a wipe-off learning book. One that can’t be added to as my boys age. I’m going to have to make them one of these. Thanks for the idea!

This is a brilliant idea, and the links have such great activity sheets! I did a quick search for washable dry erase markers, and this is what I came up with:

I think you can get Sanford brand markers just about anywhere.

Classy, compact & durable. I love that you included the pouch for dry erase markers.

I love this idea! I have a bunch of Highlights Puzzle mazes that would be great in a binder like this!
Thanks for a great idea!

Great idea! I planed to laminate O’s mazes, etc that I recently bought, but this will be much easier and faster! I found washable wipe-off markers at the Dollar Tree :)

What an awesome idea!! You can use regular crayola type markers to write on the laminate. They wash off clear and don’t leave a residue. They’re my fave!!
Thanks for the idea!
