My Mother’s Day gift from Ken and the kids came a little early. So early, I didn’t even give it a second thought when I handed over a package to Ken he received in the mail, not questioning what it was (and I ALWAYS question what’s in any package….I’m curious like that). He laughed when he realized how easy it was to pull this surprise on me.
He gave me the package right before our Mother’s Day dessert party for our moms, and I was tickled! A handmade apron! And it was kitchy! And made of beautiful fabrics! And, as they say, it was “flirty!” I’ve always wanted a flirty, retro apron, and now I have one. My husband’s the best.
And let me rave about the maker of this gorgeous apron. Her name is “Momo” and she has the most precious Etsy shop, Momo’s Retro Fashions. I highly suggest going over and taking a peek. And perhaps bookmarking it for your husband to “stumble upon” later. Or maybe even finding an excuse to buy one for yourself. You deserve it, right? Every wife and mom deserves to feel pretty in her kitchen, I say.
And to make it even sweeter, she also makes smaller versions of these aprons for your little girly helper in the kitchen.
My delicious apron came wrapped in pristine yellow tissue paper, with adorable red-ribboned tags, pressed and folded just so. (Presentation is half the product in my opinion.) And it came with a recipe for Whipping Cream Pound cake which, like a siren, beckoned me to it and MADE me purchase all of the needed ingredients to make it. I did just that, and took it proudly to my family’s family reunion last weekend.
Flirty aprons work for me, especially from this shop!

[...] I was so tickled by both the apron and the pound cake recipe that came with it, I wrote an entire post about both here. [...]
