When spring arrives, I begin to think about one thing in particular: Coconut. I don’t know why I associate coconut with springtime. Maybe it’s because it’s my husband’s favorite thing on earth and his birthday’s in the spring.
The other thing I have on my mind all 365 days of the year: Chocolate. And what’s better than putting those two together?
I love candy bars….but I can honestly say it’s been months and months since I’ve actually eaten the store-bought wrapped varieties. It’s not just about the fat and calories….it’s also about chemicals and shelf stabilizers. I just can’t help but to wonder what all is in that stuff.
Enter: Homemade Mounds Bars. I have this recipe in my Top Secret Recipes cookbook and I LOVE it. What’s better than an easy, cheap, tasty chocolate treat to add a little smile to your day?
Whet your appetite yet? If so, here’s the recipe.
It’s still a treat for us….I don’t make these every month or anything. When I do make candies like this, though, it stays just that….a special treat….and the kids never miss those prepackaged things on the store shelves.
Homemade candy bars work for me!!

Ooohhh! I am going to have to try this! Looks great and I am with you about the chemicals and additives in the store bought kind. And coconut is my favorite!!! Thanks, I have bookmarked the recipe in my Recipes folder.

Oh, that looks fabulous! Almond Joy (minus the almond) was always my favorite candy bar. I can no longer eat chocolate, but I’m thinking about maybe attempting this recipe with some other sort of meltable candy chip. Hopefully it would still be good.

I am seriously drooling. Mounds are one of my favorites. The recipe link doesn’t go right to the recipe, but I searched there and found it. Such a simple recipe – who knew? Thanks for linking it up!
