So today, on the day where we are supposed to remember what we’re thankful for and count our blessings, I am happy to say that my blessings are entirely overflowing…..and I am humbly grateful for that.
Seriously. I don’t deserve to be as blessed as I am. Really. Okay, quick, before I start to sniffle and snort with emotion, I’ll tell you why I count myself blessed today (and every other day):
– I have the most incredible husband and amazing children on the planet.
– I am approaching 30 (in February….yikes), but I feel like I’m 18….in body and mind.
– I have Godly parents who helped me become who I am today….and who still give me wise counsel when I need it (which is pretty often).
– The entire rest of my family (Emily, grandparents, aunts, uncles, you name it….) is so much fun to be with…..I look forward to time with them, not dread it like so many people do!
– My grandma is 82 years old but she is still able to cook and bring the turkey every year to our Thanksgiving feast….and may I say, it’s the tastiest bird miles around….she has mad turkey skillz.
– I have a roof over my head, heat, clothes, two cute kitties, a cupboard with a perpetual stock of dark chocolate, and a car to get me here to there.
– I have the most wonderful friends.
– I have the most amazing church and awe-inspiring pastor, hands down.
– I still get excited about silly little things like watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, hanging candy canes on the tree, and driving around to look at Christmas lights.
– My mom is here, healthy, and strong…..after several health scares this year, I am extra-thankful for her presence in my life!!
– I only lack 3 Christmas presents, then I’m DONE SHOPPING. (Don’t slap me through the computer screen.) That means I can enjoy the holidays, spending my time baking treats from scratch, decorating, making crafts, and watching holiday specials with the kids.
– I can go to bed at night, calmed by the fact that I live in a country that values freedom, and that God’s hand of protection is over my family as we rest.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!! I wholeheartedly hope you are able to spend today with those you love most.
